Free Marriage Booklets from Focus on the Family

A while back I discovered three ebooklets available for free from Focus on the Family.  All three are available via PDF download (and can be printed) and two of them are available for online reading.  These booklets are brief, but have good, basic information.  These are good resources for ministers and counselors to recommend to others.

Living Epistles

“Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men. Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God… “ (2 Corinthians 3:2-3)

In the early church, ministers of the Gospel often carried letters (or epistles) of recommendation so that they would be received by the various communities to which they traveled. The Apostle Paul told the Corinthian Christians that they were living epistles known and read by all. In other words, their reputation and lifestyle was a powerful example to all of the Spirit of the living God. No literal letter of recommendation was necessary because their lives were a testimony that gave honor to God, the ministry, and the church.

For good or for bad, you are a living epistle known and read by your friends, acquaintances, family, colleagues, and even by strangers. By your words, actions and attitudes others form an opinion not only about you, but about your church, your faith, and your God. Whether you realize it or not, people are “reading” you every where you go and in everything you do.

What kind of message does your life convey?

One Year Bible Free Audio

Our church, River of Life, is participating in the One Year Bible daily reading plan this year.  A few people have asked me if I was aware of any options for listening to the daily reading selections.  I have already posted about Free Audio Bible MP3 Downloads, but some are interested in audio options that specifically correspond to the One Year Bible daily selections.  After a little looking, I found a couple of free options.

Classic Quote on the Bible

THE BIBLE contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners and the happiness of believers.

Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable.

Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe and practice it to be holy.

It contains light to direct you, food to support you and comfort to cheer you.

It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword and the Christian's charter.

Here paradise is restored, heaven opened and the gates of hell disclosed.

Christ is its grand object, our good is its design and the glory of God its end.

It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet.

Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully.

It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure.

It is given you in life, will be opened in the judgment, and will be remembered forever.

It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.

Pray it in, read it through, live it out, and pass it on.
